1. Who We Are

deadwax ("we," "our," or "us") is operated by Nollie Technologies, based in Virginia, United States. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect personal information when you use the deadwax mobile application, website, and related services (collectively, the "Service").

Information Collected Automatically

  • Authentication/session data (refresh token records and token status)
  • OAuth provider identifiers (Google/Apple provider IDs)
  • Basic technical and security logs needed to operate and protect the Service
  • Crash diagnostics from third-party tooling we use for app reliability

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, maintain, secure, and improve the Service
  • Create and manage your account and profile
  • Enable core features (friends, endorsements, reporting, moderation)
  • Authenticate users and manage sessions across devices
  • Troubleshoot bugs, performance issues, and abuse/security incidents
  • Communicate with you about support, updates, and legal notices
  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms

4. Legal Bases for Processing

Depending on your location, we process personal information under one or more of these legal bases:

  • Contract: To provide the Service you request
  • Legitimate interests: To secure, maintain, and improve the Service
  • Consent: Where we ask for it (for example, optional marketing features)
  • Legal obligations: To comply with applicable laws

5. Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell your personal information. We also do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.

We may disclose information in the following circumstances:

  • Service providers: Hosting/storage, authentication, crash diagnostics, and infrastructure partners that help us operate the Service

  • We will request your explicit consent before enabling artist marketing email contact
  • You can withdraw consent at any time through account settings or unsubscribe controls
  • We will not share your email address with artists for marketing unless you have opted in

7. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on your location, you may have rights to:

  • Access, correct, or delete your account information
  • Request a copy of your personal information
  • Object to or restrict certain processing
  • Request data portability where applicable
  • Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent

To exercise these rights, contact us at support@deadwax.live.

8. Data Retention and Account Deletion

We retain personal information for as long as needed to provide the Service and for legitimate legal, security, and operational purposes.

When you delete your account in-app, we delete your main account record and associated endorsements, friendships, report associations, and active authentication token records from our primary systems.

Profile images are also deleted from object storage; in rare cases, deletion may be delayed if a storage provider operation fails and must be retried. Limited information may remain in backups or legal/security logs for a limited retention period.

9. Data Security

We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect personal information. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Children's Privacy

Our Service is not intended for children under 13 years of age, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn we have collected such information, we will take steps to delete it.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated policy on this page and revise the "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the Service after changes become effective means you accept the updated policy.
